Success of New Mobile Code-Reader Technology in Magazine and News Portal Trial
by T-Mobile, Pannon and Sanoma Budapest

Or Yehuda, Israel and Budapest, Hungary, 3rd June 2009: 3GVision, the global pioneer and leader in mobile barcode reading solutions and advanced image processing technologies for the mobile internet, announced today the successful completion of the "Mobilkod" 2D barcode pilot campaign in Hungary. T-Mobile, together with Pannon (owned by leading Norwegian network operator Telenor), in partnership with Sanoma Budapest, Hungary's leading publisher, chose 3GVision's i-nigma to power the campaign.

The campaign ran for eight-weeks, attracting thousands of entries from magazine and website audiences, meeting advertisers' expectations and providing instantly measurable results. The promotion invited readers of popular magazines and online news portals to download 3GVision's i-nigma code-reader application onto their mobile phones, and then use the phone's camera to scan 2-dimensional barcodes, quickly and easily linking them direct to the mobile internet and entry in a free holiday competition. Codes were placed in promotional campaigns in life-style magazines such as FHM and Cosmopolitan Hungary, and on web-sites including Startlap, StoryOnline and Vezess.

"The results of the pilot met our high expectations. Just having a 2D code made it more attractive to consumers and created high awareness because people were discussing it. The successful results prove this," said Attila Vámos-Hegyi, head of Department, alternative business and corporate development T-Mobile."Moreover, in a difficult economy where every marketing dollar counts, advertisers and content providers are searching for ways to make their ads as impactful as possible to increase their ROI. The combination of innovative mobile technology, the visual stopping power of 2D barcodes, and the mobility provided by the operators is a compelling combination which advertisers are finding will boost advertising effectiveness."

Avi Marinstrauss, VP Global Sales 3GVision, commented: "The campaign shows that consumers in Hungary are ready to scan a code printed on a magazine, or displayed on a computer screen, to simply and quickly link to the mobile web. Content, discounts, information, entertainment - all on the mobile internet anytime, anywhere - without needing to type in long URLs. This really opens up the mobile web to traditional media, for a wide range of highly innovative and impactful marketing and advertising opportunities."

3GVision's downloadable i-nigma solution is an end-to-end mobile code solution, incorporating code-scanning software for the phone itself, and a highly intuitive and simple code-creation, campaign management and metrics reporting platform. The solution enables advertisers and mobile users to quickly and easily hyper-link to the mobile internet, eliminating the need to enter long URL's using the keyboard. i-nigma supports more than 250 GSM mobile phones, across all leading mobile operating systems and platforms: Java, Symbian S60/UIQ, Windows Mobile, iPhone, and Blackberry, and benefits from more than six years of Quality Assurance and testing by leading global handset manufacturers.
